North Island Zone 2026

Nanaimo Theatre Group is proud to be hosting the 2026 North Island Zone Theatre BC Drama Festival. The festival will be hosted at the Bailey Studio in Nanaimo May 17-24, 2026 with an Awards ceremony on May 24, 2026 (further details to follow).

The following is important information you will want to know before applying:
 

We can accommodate 7 productions, which will be selected on a first come, first served basis. If you wish to enter your performance, please submit your application promptly.
 

Festival entry deadline is January 31, 2026 (or sooner if productions are full).

Two separate payments by cheque made payable to Nanaimo Theatre Group will be required when you submit your application:
1) an Entry fee of $150.00
2) a refundable performance bond of $100.00. This bond will be returned to you at the conclusion of the performance.

Please include your preferred three performance dates with your application.

 

Each selected club will receive a separate Theatre Orientation on either March 14th or 15th between 10:00 am-2:00 pm. If you have a preferred date for orientation, please indicate so with your application. We strongly recommend your club attend the orientation. Technical information is available here.

Please bring two original production scripts to your orientation. These will be provided to the adjudicator and to Theatre BC.

​

Ten complimentary tickets will be available for your club’s performance night. Ticket requests will be considered individually and only for those individuals listed as part of your production in the festival program. Please include with your application the names of the individuals who require tickets.

​

NOTE: All participants (Cast & Design, Production, Technical and Running Crew) must be members of the Member Club with whom they are participating and individual members of Theatre BC.

​

Both our Festival Stage Manager, Kristal Atkinson, and our Festival Technical Manager, Neil Leslie, are available by email to address any questions or concerns you may have before and during your production.
